These Terms are the agreement between you and Meetup Club (“Meetup Club,” “we,” “us”) for using our website and services. By using Meetup Club, you agree to them. Please read the in-person safety and liability sections carefully — they matter.
1. Who can use Meetup Club
You must be at least 18 years oldand able to form a binding contract. Meetup Club connects people for real, in-person events, so it’s for adults. By using it, you confirm you meet this.
2. What Meetup Club is (and isn’t)
Meetup Club is a platform that helps members announce, find, and RSVP to in-person events (“Beacons”) and connect around shared interests. We are not the organizer, host, or sponsor of those events, we don’t supervise them, and we don’t employ or vet hosts or attendees. Hosts and attendees are solely responsible for their own events and conduct.
3. Your account
We’re passwordless — you sign in with a passkey, a social account (Google, Apple, Facebook, or GitHub), a one-time email code, or (where offered) your phone. Keep your sign-in methods and devices secure; you’re responsible for activity under your account. Don’t impersonate others or misrepresent who you are.
4. Community rules
You agree to follow our Code of Conduct. In short: be respectful, no harassment, hate, threats, or illegal activity; don’t spam, scrape, or abuse the service; don’t post others’ private information; and don’t use Meetup Club to harm anyone. We may remove content or suspend accounts that break these rules.
5. In-person safety & assumption of risk
Meetings happen in the real world, with people you may not know. You attend and host at your own risk. Meetup Club does not conduct background checks, vet, or vouch for any member, host, venue, or event, and does not guarantee anyone’s identity, intentions, or safety. Use good judgment: meet in public where you can, tell someone where you’re going, and follow our safety guidance. To the fullest extent permitted by law, you assume all risks of attending or hosting in-person events, and you release Meetup Club from claims arising out of the conduct of any member, host, attendee, or third party, whether online or in person.
6. Your content
You keep ownership of what you post (event details, messages, profile). You grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, display, and distribute it as needed to operate the service. You’re responsible for your content and confirm you have the right to post it.
7. Our content & intellectual property
Meetup Club’s name, brand, software, and design are ours (or our licensors’). We grant you a limited, revocable, non-transferable license to use the service for its intended purpose. Don’t copy, resell, reverse-engineer, or build a competing service from it.
8. Third-party services
Sign-in providers, venues, maps, and other third parties have their own terms; we’re not responsible for them. Your use of a sign-in provider is also governed by that provider’s terms and privacy policy.
9. Disclaimers
Meetup Club is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We don’t warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure, or that any event will meet your expectations.
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Meetup Club and its people won’t be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss arising from your use of (or inability to use) the service or from any in-person event. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the past 12 months (which, for a free service, is $0) or USD $100. Some places don’t allow these limits, so they may not fully apply to you.
11. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold Meetup Club harmless from claims and costs arising out of your use of the service, your content, your conduct at events, or your breach of these Terms.
12. Suspension & termination
You can stop using Meetup Club and delete your account anytime. We may suspend or terminate access if you break these Terms or the Code of Conduct, or to protect the community. Sections that by their nature should survive (ownership, disclaimers, liability, indemnity, governing law) survive termination.
13. Governing law & disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of North Carolina, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Before filing anything, email [email protected] so we can try to resolve it informally. Any dispute that isn’t resolved will be handled by the state or federal courts located in North Carolina, and you consent to their jurisdiction (unless your local law gives you the right to your own courts).
14. Changes
We may update these Terms; we’ll change the date above and, for material changes, give notice where appropriate. Continuing to use Meetup Club after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
